Seconds

This page is used to add more information not presented in a blog post.  Think of it as “second helpings.”

Normally, what shows up here will be things like the full example for a reference, and not just the excerpt.  Occasionally, it might be a fuller explanation of an idea, (particularly if I use that idea a lot).  But really, I’m trying to limit the need for excessive detail.  Parsimony governs; less is more.  No one has time to read all this stuff.

Bon Appetite~!

Metonymy
Thomas Keydel, August 12, 2010

A-ton-of-me
On-a-me
Makes for
Metonymy

The Unique as the One
Like a really bad pun
Gives truth a new name
Autonomy

That being said
A-ton-of-me
On-a-me
Makes for a token
Economy

Here is the full version of the poem used to set up the idea of Pied:

For the Pied in Me
Thomas Keydel, August 12, 2010

Everything I look upon looks at me.
Everything I touch touches me.
Everything I think thinks through me.
Everything of light is light to me.
Here is the unity of the world in me.

Pied is the state that penetrates me.
Pied is the prism that bifurcates thee.
Pied is the shadow of the world not me.
Pied is the color that you hold in me.
Here is the beauty which you placed in me:

Everything I look upon is blank in me.
Everything I touch is numb to me.
Everything I think is a blur through me.
Everything of light seems to die in me.
Here is the unity of the world not me.

Art is the sight of tranquility at sea.
Science is the art of penetrating thee.
Praise to Thee for placing me in me.
Your love is greater than the shadows I see.
Pied is the beauty that holds you to me.
